Welcome To the "Riddle Vault": While I don't claim to have the riddle skills of J.R.R. Tolkein, I can drop a brain scratcher now and then. Most of these riddles have been transfered over from am old blog that I used to run but keep your eyes peeled for new ones. At the bottom of the page you'll find a link to the riddle answers. The answer page might seem really annoying as I've spaced the answers far apart to prevent folks from accidentally reading the next one down. The answers are in order from top to bottom, so, I recomend answering the riddles from top to bottom as well.
Enjoy.
Weekly Riddle Wednesday 14 Nov 07
I raise with my brethren
each of us yellow headed
the spring gives us birth
the fall is to be dreaded
Iron moons cut us down
beat and toss on the rocks
our heads fall off for you
our bodies for your flocks
pour us in the circle trough
rolling comes the heavy stone
crush our flesh into dust
fine powder from our bone
It rains on us so that we stick
no kneader hear our cries
into the fire we then go
where again we shall raise
What are we?
Weekly Wednesday Riddle 7 NOV 07
Dip, dip, dip me in the drink
each time you pull me out
I grow instead of shrink
Hold me buy my single hair
else you burn your hand
the soup is hot underneath
too hot for you to stand
I'm soft when warm but
the cool makes me hard
the flower eaters hoard
or a heavy dose of lard
When the day is done
I'll wait for the night
and mimic the sun
What am I?
Weekly Wednesday Riddle 31 Oct 07 "Happy Halloween"
Full Moon Rising
Meat Tenderizing
Demon Exorcising
Human appetizing
Fangs, fur, stitches and scars
Howls, shrieks, groans, and Roars
From the grave, depths or mars
Hide quick behind boards and bars
Eat your flesh, chew your feet
Your face to a bloody pulp beat
Be careful whom at night you greet
To us your only bags of meat
What are we?
Weekly Riddle Wednesday 24 Oct 07
Just as I begin, I will end
follow me in order friend
Travel me with your eyes
around each corner a surprise
Right way up, not on my head
else your mind will be misled
Not back to front but front to back
on my pale face my secrets black
Large or small, thick or thin
if you will finish you must begin
If when your done you liked the ride
start over again by looking inside
What am I?
Weekly Wednesday Riddle 17 OCT 07
I am, I was, I will be
From birth till death man fears me
Children know me not,
elders tremble at my thought
I am the mobius of the mind
always here but you never find
What am I?
Weekly Riddle Wednesday Riddle 11 OCT 07
I have three brothers
never apart, always together
we travel the long roads
in fair or stormy weather
Dirt, sand, stone, or grass
our faces in them all
nails through our bodies
hear us thump as we fall
What are we?
"Weekly Riddle Wednesday" Riddle 3 Oct 07
Two steps first, Then only one
Always forward never back
Sometimes my steps angled
but only when I attack
My brothers and I number eight
where we stand determines our fate
we are the least of all but vital still
for in large numbers we safely kill
What am I?
"Weekly Riddle Wednesday" 26 Sept 07
My flesh is snow, my skin is earth,
the winds watched on at my birth
My coat is hide, my clothes are string,
undress me to get the taste I bring
My house is high, my roof green sky,
to reach me you must climb or fly
when my coat is brown I shall fall,
but when it's green I taste best of all
What am I?
"Weekly Riddle Wednesday" 19 Sept 07
I have several throats,
wind comes in only one
My belly swells,
with borrowed breath
but when it's flat,
my singings done
I ride before the dead,
those who marry I ride after
I screech for battles on a hill,
and wail in times of laughter
What am I?
Riddle Wednesday 12 Sept 07
I have a long Neck
but a narrow pointy head
the creatures I touch
spill forth their red
I can fly
yet I have no wing
just three feathers
tied to me with string
What am I?
Tiki Bar Wednesday Riddle 5 SEPT 07
I have a thousand legs,
each with a thousand teeth
My touch is poison,
to those within my reach
To see me look sharp,
for little shadow do I give
Because I look much like,
the place where I live
What am I?
Riddle 4 Oct 08
The yellow sea is my home,
Upon four legs my brothers roam,
Clay skinned men with feather hair,
Killed us for food with great care
Once our forms darkened the land,
Now so few of us still stand,
My tongue is sweet the choicest meat,
But for horn and hide the hunter ride
They came the ones over proud,
Bringing thunder with face of cloud,
Just our treasures the hunters sought,
Then left us on the ground to rot
What am I?
